A study on the Index of Environment and the Level of public facilities in urban life

Abstract
There are big difference between developed countries and underdeveloped countries in urbanization. Moreover, from the municipal point of view, urban problems have raised in urbanizing process. In Korea, the distinctive features and problems in urbanizing process should be characterized by limping, sudden changes, stagnancy, and inequality of urban communities. During the past decade, the demand of municipal administration has been increased year by year by civilization, a sudden increase in population, a sudden urbanization, an increase in national income, and an evaluation in the standard of living. However, municipal administration shows lack of enthusiasm against the urban problems. As the result, urban problems, such as housing, city water, sewage, transportation, pollution, and so on have brought the urbanization into social problems. In case of Taegu city, it shows that the index of facilities concerning health keeping is much lower level in envirormental facilities for urban life comparing Taegu¡¯s facilities with domestic and foreign facilities. The phenomenon is much higher in large city thank small or medium city. The Index of health keeping shows in terms of the number of population per a doctor and a registered nurse. According to a survey, the index of health keeping is 1,500 person per a doctor, 1,582 person per a registered nurse, and the number of the bed is around 165 beds per a 100,000 person. Also the rate of city water supply is 93% and the quantity of water supply is a 270 liter per capita in a day. While the supplying rate for sewage facilities is 55.6% and the collecting rate of garbage is approximately 100£¥ and the quantity of discharged garbage is 1.67 §¸s per capita in a day which is gradually increased year by year. In brief, it is said that above indexes shown at higher value in large cities, while small cities have lower index values.
